Day 4
So we've bid goodbye to Sao Paulo, for a few weeks at least. I was sad to leave but already, one nights sleep after touching down in Manaus, we feel safer and its hotter. To have a good time as a tourist in SP you need a lot of money and time, and we spent all ours on the flight here.
Not much happened today, at least not till we got on the flight. I knew boarding restriction were more relaxed here, but was still suprised when one guy pulled out two pizzas he'd brought on as hand luggage twenty minutes into the flight. We figured the following short exchange with an air hostess might end their meal, but she just returned a couple of minutes later with some drinks.
Rob fell asleep so I started chatting away the the man next to me (almost totally in English). I learnt that it is 40 degrees in Manaus, Brazilian Uni can be free, English football is the laughing stock internationall it deserves to be and Brazilians have no idea what cricket is ( he thought it was played on horses). We got a lift back to the hostel and shared it with two Brazilian students on a course. They were from Belem and spoke incredible English. The girl said our accents were great and I sounded like Harry Potter, and unintentionally qualified compliment I suppose.
